Keep data about yourself
Clive Humby said:
“Data is the new oil. Like oil, data is valuable, but if unrefined it cannot really be used. It has to be changed into gas, plastic, chemicals, etc. to create a valuable entity that drives profitable activity. so, must data be broken down, analysed for it to have value.”
Third-parties collect data about normal people living their lives 24/7 via personal devices, satellites, CCTV, and more. This data is used to direct personally-targeted advertising, which benefits the companies that buy that data.
That same data is valuable to the individuals who generate it, but for other reasons.
People want to document their lives, optimize their recipes, track their fitness, self-analyze their behavior, and more. They also want to do this without necessarily sharing this data with third-parties. So, It should be possible to conveniently keep self-data.
