Reasons I don't use emacs
Even though the idea of a lisp environment sounds amazing (and is amazing), I cannot personally use emacs for the following reasons.
- actively damages the pinky side of my left hand (even with ctrl mapped to caps lock)
- editing sucks; Vim is much more elegant in terms of pure editing due to normal mode movement and semantic commands (
dte
,ciw
, etc.) - emacs’ advantages can still be made up for in Vim, often with little-known built-in functionality, and with plugins if needed
